CHANGE – Global Change and Sustainability Institute will participate in this year's edition of Encontro Ciência with a thematic session dedicated to “Soil Health: The Foundation for Ecosystems, Climate Regulation, and Food Security,” together with the TERRA Associate Laboratory. This year's Encontro Ciência will take place in Porto from July 3 to 5, under the theme “+Science for One Health and Global Well-being.”
The session, scheduled for July 5 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, aims to discuss the importance of soil and “the relevance of appropriate mechanisms and tools for monitoring its health, as well as for soil remediation and restoration.” It will also address “the needs in terms of global soil management practices and policy instruments that promote soil health,” as stated in the session description.
The session's program, organized jointly by the two Associate Laboratories, includes an introduction by Paulo Branco, from TERRA, and a roundtable moderated by Susana Filipe, from MED & CHANGE. The roundtable will feature Carlos Guerra, from the University of Coimbra, Paula Guedes from CENSE & CHANGE, and José Paulo Sousa, from the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet at the University of Coimbra and TERRA Associate Laboratory.
