In times of increasingly complex environmental and social challenges, thinking about new ways of doing science is an urgent need. In this context the Associated Laboratory CHANGE - Global Change and Sustainability Institute, in partnership with the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa), are promoting the session "Transdisciplinary Dialogues: from knowledge brokering to community empowerment," as part of the Science 2025 Meeting.
The initiative proposes a critical and inspiring reflection on the role of transdisciplinary and collaborative research between academics and non-academics, with a focus on projects in the field of sustainability. Concrete cases involving the Montado's silvopastoral system, the ocean and actions aligned with the European Green Deal will be discussed.
Among the main objectives of the session is the discussion of practices that go beyond disciplinary boundaries and value the co-production of knowledge, putting a central question in the spotlight:
How can we empower end users to become active players in the co-construction of knowledge and in science-practice collaboration processes?
