Forest fires continue to be a growing threat in the European Union, destroying an average of half a million hectares a year. EASAC's latest report - Changing Wildfires - looks at the complex factors that are increasing the risk of forest fires across Europe.
This report was drawn up by 23 scientists appointed by the respective national scientific academies, including the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, and will be presented at a session to be held on June 26, between 3pm and 5pm, at the Lisbon Academy of Science. We would like to highlight the participation of Teresa Pinto Correia, president of the CHANGE Associated Laboratory and MED researcher, in this session as part of the discussion panel.
See the full report here and learn more about the role of science in understanding and fighting forest fires.
