CHANGE made a significant presence at the Oeiras Valley Science Festival 2025, which took place on May 24 and 25, contributing the knowledge and experience of five of its researchers in various round tables dedicated to the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in solving global challenges.
Over the two days of the event, the researchers addressed topics in the areas of the environment, biodiversity, food, and health, reinforcing the role of science in building sustainable solutions.
On the first day, Rui Lourenço (MED/CHANGE) explored the contribution of AI to knowledge of biodiversity, António Câmara (CENSE/CHANGE) reflected on the relationship between AI and Nature, and Paulo Condado (CENSE/CHANGE) presented his vision on the application of AI in the development of Assistive Technologies.
On the second day, Elsa Lamy (MED/CHANGE) highlighted the link between AI and the sensory sciences, while Susana Filipe (MED/CHANGE) moderated two sessions: one on AI in the face of the challenges of forests and oceans, and another focused on advances in AI in food production.
The participation of the CHANGE Institute reinforced the value of collaborative and interdisciplinary research at an event that brought together more than 22,000 participants, including 8,000 students and teachers, more than 100 guests, 80 partners, 30 sessions, and 120 collaborators.
