The CHANGE Institute will be present at the Oeiras Valley Science Festival on May 24 and 25, 2025, with the participation of six of its researchers in various round tables dedicated to the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on global challenges in the areas of the environment, biodiversity, food and health.
Over the course of these two days, CHANGE researchers will share their knowledge and experience in various areas of AI application.
On the first day, Rui Lourenço (MED/CHANGE) will explore the contribution of AI to biodiversity knowledge, António Câmara (CENSE/CHANGE) will address the theme of AI and Nature, Sérgio Godinho (MED/CHANGE) will present the use of LIDAR technology from space and AI in forest fire management and Paulo Condado (CENSE/CHANGE) will bring his perspective on the application of AI in the development of Assistive Technologies.
On the second day, Elsa Lamy (MED/CHANGE) will speak about AI and sensory sciences.
Susana Filipe (MED/CHANGE) will moderate two sessions, one dedicated to AI and the challenge of forests and oceans and the other focusing on AI advances in food production.
The presence of CHANGE Institute researchers at this event reinforces the role of collaborative and interdisciplinary research in the search for sustainable solutions to the challenges of the future, demonstrating CHANGE's ongoing commitment to science at the service of society.
